Help Understanding Why?
. . Contributed By ChrisOn Thursday, March 18, 1999
I carry a bracelet for a soldier who was involved in a helicopter crash in 1971. There was no body found at the site at that time. I am told that "Casualty was on Dec 06 1978 that it was hostile, died while missing." I am also told the "Body was not recovered" How can someone be considered dead if they say he died while missing but yet there is no body? Should it be considered POW/MIA still until a body is found? Is there a time limit then we declare them dead? If they are truly not forgotten how is this possible? Are there any sites where I can find more extensive information logs on the things that happened to soldiers such as their reports or something. Thank you for you time and consideration on these concerns.
