Ralph Donald Godfroy . . Contributed By Raimund H. PollardOn Thursday, May 07, 1998 To an old dear friend from the "Butzbach" gang that attended Frankfurt American High School in Germany in 1968. You were an inspiration and a role model to many of us. To this day I think of you and hope to think that just a "little bit" rubbed off on me. I remember when your sister was on the school bus in August of 69 and told us of your death. It was shocking and brought us all in perspective about the war in Viet Nam. You will never be forgotten my friend.

Veteran's Day Assembly for High School . . Contributed By Antonella NoviOn Tuesday, May 12, 1998 Hello. My name is Antonella Novi. I am a senior in high school who has had to do a major project in order to graduate. I decided I would plan and prepare for the 1998 Veteran's Day Assembly. My focus point will be what was it like to be a young person during a war era? "A war era" meaning both WWII and Vietnam. Already I have spoken with 24 individuals who had to deal with either or both wars in their life time. My purpose, I want to give MY generation a better understanding of what our parents and grandparents went through. I am writing to let all the veterans and their family members that I am trying my hardest to understand what happened. I am sooooo sorry for all the heartache you must have suffered. Believe me just by simple conversations I can see in every eye that there are issues. Confusion, hatred, pride, lack of pride, fear, so many feelings to even out into words. I am only 18-- I can't even imagine some of my best guy friends having to go overseas, possibly never seeing them again. I am letting my generation know how lucky we really are to not have to go through a war, and that if we stay strong and help keep our country peaceful we may never have to suffer. If you read my message please respond, if only a small comment. What would you like me to share?
