TO BRIAN'S FAMILY. WE MET AT THE SFOB COMPOUND WHILE BRIAN WAS WITH THE 5TH MIKE FORCE. WE SOMEHOW ENDED UP IN THE SAME LINE FOR SOMETHING OR OTHER, AND IN TALKING, WE FOUND OUT THAT WE WERE BORN ON THE SAME DAY, NOVEMBER 3, BUT TWO YEARS APART. I WAS BORN IN 1947, BRIAN IN 1949. WE RAN INTO EACH OTHER AGAIN IN A HOLE CALLED CHI LANG,APRIL,1970. I DIDN'T KNOW HIM WELL, BUT HE WAS A GREAT GUY, AND I'LL ALWAYS REMEMBER HIM. HE, AND HIS FAMILY, ARE ALWAYS IN MY PRAYERS AND THOUGHTS. HE GAVE HIS LIFE FOR ME, FOR YOU, AND FOR US ALL. DON'T LISTEN TO THOSE WHO MAY SAY HE DIED IN VAIN. NO ONE ON THIS WALL DIED IN VAIN ! HOWEVER, HOW MANY NOT ON THIS WALL HAVE LIVED IN VAIN ? GOD LOVE BRIAN, AND THE REST OF THESE GALLANT MEN OF VALOR. EVEN WITHOUT THE WALL, THEY WOULD BE REMEMBERED BY THOSE OF US THAT SERVED WITH THEM. SP5 JOHN DUMESTRE, 5TH SPECIAL FORCES GROUP(AIRBORNE), 1ST SPECIAL FORCES, REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM, 5 JULY 1969 THROUGH 28 DECEMBER 1970. DE OPPRESSO LIBER.
