1967 USAF PERSONNEL, BROADVIEW, SASK., CANADA 1967
. . Contributed By HARRY W. HOREJDAOn 07/01/97:
DURINGTHE MONTHS OF APRIL-SEPTEMBER OF 1967 WHEN I WAS A YOUNG BOY OF 16, MY SMALL SASKATCHEWAN, CANADA COMMUNITY HAD AN INFLUX OF YOUNG USAF PERSONNEL WHO WERE PRACTICING THEIR B-52 RADAR BOMBING TECHNIQUES OVER OUR PROVINCE. THESE USAF PERSONNEL WERE MOSTLY VERY YOUNG PERSONNEL. WE PARTIED WITH THEM DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS. THEIR NEXT STOP WAS VIETNAM WHILE WE DID NOT HAVE TO FACE SUCH PROBLEMS. THE B-52'S ALSO PARCTICED OVER THE TOWNS OF DAFOE. HOWEVER, I OFTEN WONDERED WHAT HAPPEND TO ALL THESE YOUNG MEN WE MET. I WOULD LIKE TO REACH SOME OF THEM AND REMINISCE ABOUT THE MANY PARTIES WE HAD DURING THOSE SUMMER MONTHS OF 1967

. . Contributed By Alan Royce DavidsonOn 07/01/97:
Mark Toschik was my friend from West Phoenix HS.We graduated together in 1968 and were supposed to enlist together that summer.I broke my neck in an accident and did not go.Mark did.Between 8/68 and 1/70, he went through Basic, AIT, Ranger Traning, OCS, Jump School and maybe even Special Forces (I'm not sure about the last one).He died on 8/11/70 in Dinh Tuong Province. The helicopter he was in was shot down and crashed.Does anyone out there have any information about Mark, the unit he was in or a reference I can follow up on? I would greatly appreciate any comments.I miss him and think of him often. To all vets of Vietnam, Korea and WWII, thank you!
